Lehigh University's Premiere Hackathon

March 31st - April 1st, 2016

So what's a hackathon?

A hackathon is an event where developers of all skill levels gather together to learn, pursue new projects, and generally have an awesome time. While the word "hack" has such a negative connotation these days, we strive to bring it a new meaning: the creation of exciting and innovative products in unprecedented ways.

What if I can't code?

This is the perfect place for you. Hackathons are first and foremost a place to learn about computer science. The best way to learn how to code is by doing it - especially with other people. LehighHacks will be a great atmosphere with mentors walking around the entire event to assist when needed.

How does this work?

LehighHacks is a 36 hour event from March 31st - April 1st, 2016 and will be held at The Mountaintop Campus. Students will get together to create some awesome stuff, win prizes, and meet cool people.

What should I bring?

Bring a laptop, charger, and a sleeping bag if you plan on sleeping. We'll provide the food, so all you need to do is show up!

Who can sign up?

Any student enrolled in a college or university can join us! All Lehigh students who are interested are guaranteed entry. No travel reimbursements will be provided.

Will I be able to sleep?

While there won't be much sleeping going on, we'll have some dedicated quiet spaces in case you need to take a quick nap.

Be there for our Blue Sky Event in Neville 1 at 5pm. Representatives from our corporate partners will be present to help us brainstrom solutions to various problems their respective companies face in industry. We'll form ideas to tackle during the hackathon.

Wednesday, March 23rd

Our final workshop will cover various technologies offered to us by our corporate partners. We'll make sure that everyone has the tools to succeed at LehighHacks!

Are there themes?

Yes! While hackers can build anything they want, we will have three special categories for judging which include Smart Environments, Social Apps, and Financial Technologies. We will have specific challenges within these categories coming soon!

What can I win?

We are working with our partners to get some awesome prizes for LehighHacks. We'll announce a final prize list as we get closer to the event.

Who is judging?

Judges will be comprised of representatives from our corporate partners. This provides great opportunities for all teams to demonstrate their skills and develop their professional network.

What is the judging process?

At the conclusion of hacking, teams will present their projects in a science fair/expo environment as judges walk around. The top 10 teams, as selected by the judges, will then pitch their projects on stage to determine a final winner.
